Mumbai: BARC scientist commits suicide

Mumbai/UNI: A young scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) allegedly committed suicide after hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his official quarters at Anushakti Nagar area of city suburb, police said here on Saturday.

Police said, primary investigation revealed that deceased had a brawl with his wife.

Senior PI Siddheshwar Gove of Trombay police station said the incident took place on Thursday and the deceased, Anuj Tripathi was hailing from Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and working in the BARC biotech department since 2011.

On Thursday morning, Anuj and his wife Saroj reportedly had a fierce argument over the feeding of their two minor sons, aged 5 and 3, after which he went to the bedroom and hanged himself from the ceiling fan, the official said.

Police have not found any suicide note while the probe was going on.

A case of accident death has been registered by the police.
