Mumbai: Boat carrying workers to upcoming Shivaji memorial in Arabian Sea capsizes, one dies

Mumbai, Oct 24 (IBNS): At least one person died when a Maharashtra government boat carrying workers to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial in the Arabian Sea capsized on Wednesday, media reports said.

The drowned worker was identified as Siddhesh Pawar, a resident of Santacruz, reported Mumbai Mirror newspaper.

As per the newspaper report, the mishap occurred when the boat hit a rock near Prongs lighthouse. 

"A call was received at 4.15 pm. The boat belongs to the Maharashtra government and was carrying senior officials including the Chief Secretary," reported Mumbai Mirror.
