Mumbai: Real estate baron DSK's brother detained at airport

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Makarand Kulkarni, the brother of Pune-based developer DS Kulkarni and an accused in the Rs.2000-crore investors scam that duped thousands of people, was detained at the Mumbai airport on Tuesday morning, while allegedly trying to flee the country.

Sources in the Mumbai police said the accused was detained, following a Lookout Circular issued by Pune police for Makarand, who was on the run after his anticipatory bail application was rejected.

Makarand was later arrested and he was handed over to a special team of Pune police which has reached Mumbai after they were informed.

In 2017, following a complaint lodged by a depositor, an FIR was lodged against DS Kulkarni also known as DSK, his wife Hemanti and others.

At present 15 persons stand named in the offence. 10 were arrested and had been chargesheeted. Among them, eight persons including DSK and Hemanti are currently lodged in Yerawada central jail in Pune.
