Myanmar must take back Rohingyas: Sushma Swaraj in Dhaka

Swaraj expressed India's concern over the violence in Myanmar and said that peace can only restored with the deportation of the refugees to the war torn Rakhine state.

Swaraj told the media: "We have urged that the situation be handled with restraint, keeping in mind the welfare of the population."

"Myanmar must take back their nationals, they are a big burden for Bangladesh," the External Affairs Minister was quoted by the Times Of India.

The central government had already said they want to deport the Rohingyas as they are a threat to the national security.

The Centre, days ago, filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that the presence of Rohingyas Muslims in the country poses national security threats as intelligence reports suggest links of a section of the immigrants, branded stateless in Myanmar, with Pak-based terror groups.

According to reports, the Centre also told the apex court that whether or not Rohingya refugees should be allowed to settle in the country be left to the executive.

The top court had asked the government to file an affidavit following a petition against the deportation of the illegal immigrants to Myanmar.

Swaraj on Sunday reached Dhaka city to commence her two-day visit to Bangladesh.

Sushma Swaraj's Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali received her at the  Bangabandhu Air Base.
