Guwahati, Mar 28 (IBNS)  : Three days after the arrest of three Nagaland Government officials in connection with illegal tax collection on behalf of several insurgent groups, including the banned NSCN-K, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued a fresh notice to former  Chief Minister TR Zeliang, asking him to appear before it in  New Delhi on March 31.

The investigating agency has also asked  his then personal secretary K Francis Zeliang to appear before the NIA headquarter on the same day in connection with the allegation of  funding insurgent groups from state exchequer.

On  March 25, the NIA had arrested three Nagaland Government officers in connection with illegally tax collection for the banned outfit group.

The arrested officers are -  G Ikuto Zhimomi (Director, Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima), Ketouzo Peseyie (executive engineer in state rural development department) and Sangtemchuba (divisional accounts office in Nagaland’s urban development department).

Earlier, TR Zeliang was summoned by the NIA to Delhi but he requested for deferring the date  because of the state Assembly session, which ended on March 26.

NIA has been  probing the case since August 2016.

The National Investigation Agency has so far arrested 10 Nagaland  Government officials  in connection with the allegations of  extortions and illegal tax collection.
