Sydney: Indian PM Narendra Modi received a rockstar welcome as he addressed a special community event in Sydney on Tuesday when he said India and Australia are connected by the Indian Ocean.

With Australian PM Anthony Albanese by his side, PM Modi said: "No matter what the geographical distances are there between India and Australia, Indian Ocean connects us."

He said: "No matter different lifestyles are there in both the countries, Yoga connects us."
"Cricket is something which has kept us connected for ages...and now Tennis and Movies from other connecting bridges," Modi said.

He said he kept the promise of revisiting Australia once again and not make his Indian diaspora members wait for 28 years for the Prime Minister to visit the nation.

"Last time when I came here, I gave you all a promise; and that promise was that you won't have to wait for India's Prime Minister for a long 28 years, again," he said. "And see..I am here! PM Albanese is also with me, here," Modi said.

He said the IMF considers India as the 'Bright Spot' of global economy.

"According to World Bank, if there's any country which is withstanding global headwinds, it's India," he said.

Modi said: "India has made record exports even in the most challenging times."

Modi is currently on the last leg of his three-nation tour.

He earlier visited Japan and Papua New Guinea.
