Mumbai/IBNS: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar was on Monday taken to a hospital for check-up after he felt uneasy due to abdominal pain.

NCP leader Nawab Malik tweeted to say that Pawar has a problem in his gall bladder upon diagnosis.

The veteran politician will be admitted to hospital on Mar 31.

Malik tweeted, "Kind attention. Our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check up. Upon diagnosis it came to light that he has a problem in his Gall Bladder.

"He is on Blood Thinning Medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted in hospital on the 31st of March 2021 and an Endoscopy and Surgery will be conducted. Hence all his programmes stand cancelled until further notice."

Pawar's scheduled campaign for Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee in poll-bound West Bengal is set to get cancelled.

The former Union Minister fell ill at a time the Maharashtra government, of which NCP is a part of, is facing crisis over corruption allegations levelled at Pawar's partyman Anil Deshmukh.
