NDFB militant killed, two injured in Assam gun battle
Guwahati, Oct 18 (IBNS) : A hardcore militant of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit faction) was killed and two others were injured in a gun battle with security forces in Assam’s Sonitpur district along Arunachal Pradesh border on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place at Jothaipur area near Dhekiajuli along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Saturday, where the militant was killed and two others injured.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army had launched operation at the remote area, where a militant group was hiding.
“When troops reached the area, the militants started fire and forced us to exchange bullets,” a top police official said.
A militant was killed on spot and two others injured.
The deceased militant was identified as Mangal Narzary.
Other militants, however, managed to flee from the area and entered in Arunachal Pradesh.
Top police and army official rushed to the area and launched operation against the militants.
On other hand, security forces recovered two hand grandees from Masulpur area in Baska district on Friday.
On Thursday, police recovered two pistols, explosive from Chaigaon area in Kamrup (Rural) district.
