New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remembered India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary and said he was an institution builder who strengthened democratic values.

He named various institutions like Indian Institute of Management and others that were created during the regime of Nehru, who is also his great grandfather.

"Nehru ji was an institution builder who strengthened our democratic roots," he tweeted.

"In 8 yrs, BJP has weakened democracy by bulldozing institutions.
India needs #BharatJodo now more than ever," he said.
