Guwahati/IBNS: Several organizations, including All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and North East Students’ Organization (NESO), have re-launched its protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 across the North Eastern region.

North East Students’ Organization on Friday observed the day as black day across the region by hoisting black flags, displaying black banners and protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

North East Students’ Organization, which is comprising of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), Khasi Students' Union (KSU), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Naga Students' Federation (NSF), Twipra Student Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), has also vowed to continue its agitation across the Northeast till CAA is scrapped.

Despite widespread protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 across the region, the controversial bill was passed in the parliament on December 11 last year.

Five youths were killed and several others injured in Assam during the anti-CAA agitation in December last year.

On the other hand, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and few other organizations have also started their agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 from Assam’s Sivasagar district.
