Netizens criticise Ram Gopal Verma over his tweet on Angoorlata Deka

Mumbai, May 25 (IBNS): Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma has triggered a controversy over his remarks on BJP MLA from Assam Angoorlata Deka as he was criticised by netizens and even hash tag #SaySorryRGV started trending on Twitter.

Posting a picture of the MLA, Verma had tweeted yesterday, "If MLA can look like this,Achche din aagaye hai..Thank you Angoorlataji,Thank you Modiji..1st time I love politics."

Meanwhile, netizens have slammed the filmmaker over his remarks.

One Mananjoy Dutta  tweeted: "@RGVzoomin This is nothing but you have proved again that you have a sick mindset #SaySorryRGV."

Another Anirudh Jain said :"@RGVzoomin When u cant respect women then how can v respect u. #SaySorryRGV."

Sagar Patil, another Twitter user, posted: "#SaySorryRGV This creates a sense of insecurity in women they feel discouraged. That too from a man who is well known all over india."

Prasenjit C Sarkar criticised the filmmaker and said: "#SaySorryRGV Mr RGV learn to give respect to women."

Verma said he was only complimenting the MLA.

"With regards to my comment on Angoorlataji,I was just paying a compliment to her .since most MLA's don't look good it was such a change," he said.
