Agartala/UNI: The new government in Tripura is likely to be sworn in on March 8, said Chief Minister Manik Saha of the outgoing BJP-led government in the state on Friday after tendering his resignation at Raj Bhawan.

Saha said, “BJP has got an absolute majority for the formation of the new government and its ally IPFT has won one seat that rose the tally of NDA to 33 in 60 -members assembly.

"We shall expect that new government would work more effectively for inclusive development of Tripura under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” he said.

The schedule for the legislative party meeting of the BJP has not yet been finalized to select the leader who will claim the formation of the government.

Thereafter, the oath-taking ceremony will be announced after all due formalities, Saha told the media.

However, party sources said that BJP’s central leaders convened a meeting with the leaders of three northeastern states and the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday in New Delhi to decide the formation of cabinets in the states and finalize the strategies for the next government.
