New York: Permanent Mission of India to UN hosts Hindi Diwas

The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations recently hosted the Diamond Jubilee of Hindi Diwas in the US city of New York.

The event marked the 75th anniversary of Hindi being adopted as an official language in India.

“Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations organised the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Hindi Diwas on November 22, 2024 in New York. The day marks adoption of Hindi as an official language in India, on 14 September 1949,” Permanent Mission of India in New York said in a statement as quoted by ANI in its report.

According to reports, the Indian delegation that attended the event included MPs like Birendra Prasad Baishya, Pradan Baruah, Sushmita Dev, Akshay Yadav, Sandhya Ray, Tejasvi Surya, Bansuri Swaraj.

Birendra Prasad Baishya was quoted as saying by ANI during the event that Hindi is growing at a rapid pace in the 21st century in different parts of the world and added that the heightened global stature of Hindi is increasingly making it a medium in international polity and diplomacy.
