New Delhi, Jan 10 (IBNS): Riajul Karim, a suspect in the Burdwan accidental blast of last year in West Bengal, has been arrested from Jharkhand on Saturday, said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the case.
Rejaul Karim of Murshidabad district was wanted by NIA in the case.

"Rejaul Karim stayed in Badshahi Road of Burdwan and was a very close associate of Kauser @ Bomaru Mizan and other main accused persons wanted in Burdwan blast case. A reward of Rs. 5 lakhs had been declared for providing information leading to the arrest of Rajaul Karim," said NIA.

He is an active member of Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and was engaged in manufacturing and transport of bombs to different locations, said India's premier terror attack investigating agency.

"Since the time of incident he has been absconding to evade arrest," NIA said.

After the blast in October last, 39 similar bombs were recovered from the house of Rejaul Karim. After the incident on Oct 2, injured accused Abdul Hakim had called up Rejaul for

providing assistance and evacuation. His interrogation is likely to throw fresh leads and evidence in the investigation of this case, said NIA.

Earlier several arrests of Indian and Bangaldeshi nationals were made in the case from West Bengal and Assam exposing a network of terrorists and modules to cause terror strikes in Bangladesh and target its prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Burdwan blast incident had taken place on Oct 2 last year at Khagragarh area in Burdwan district when an accidental explosion in a house led to the discovery of a cache of arms and ammunition and bomb making industry besides unearthing of several terror modules with the involvement of Bangladesh terror outfit .

Two people, identified as Shakil Ahmed and Swapan Mondal, died in the blast.

The group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was behind the network.
