Meanwhile, police sources confirmed the deaths of nine Naxals, with the possibility of the number increasing.

Sources said that on the night of April 1, a joint police party set out for a search operation in the Gangalur area of Bijapur district. During the operation, on Tuesday morning around 6 a.m., an exchange of fire occurred between the police team and Maoists in the jungles of Lendra village.

So far, nine bodies of Naxals have been recovered, along with several modern weapons from the encounter site.
