No anti-incumbency against BJP in LS elections: Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, Apr 8 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday claimed that there was no incumbency factor in the Lok Sabha elections in spite of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) being in power at the Centre.

Speaking to UNI, Dr Sawant said BJP had been in power for the last five years while Congress had been for 45 years so there would be no anti-incumbency in the elections for the party.

''BJP has been in power for five years while Congress for 45 years so there would not be anti-incumbency for the BJP. There is need to take the schemes introduced by BJP to the people. Once those schemes reach the people, definitely they will elect Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for next five years,'' the Chief Minister said.

Goa has two Lok Sabha seats and currently both the seats are being represented by the BJP in Parliament. While Union Minister for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik is contesting from North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Narendra Sawaikar is a party candidate from South Goa.

Lok Sabha elections in Goa are scheduled to be held on April 23, 2019.
