New York, Sept 24 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not hold a bilateral meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during his five-day visit to the US.

"As of now there is nothing, no bilateral meeting on the schedule," media reports quoted  Vikas Swarup, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs as saying. .

PM Modi and and PM Sharif are staying in the same hotel in the city - the iconic Waldorf Astoria.

Earlier, speculations were rife that the PMs of both countries, staying in the same hotel, may get hold of a chance to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the programme they have come to attend.

"There will be no deliberate attempt. If a handshake happens, you will get to see it. If a pull aside happens, you will get to see it,"  Swarup told reporters.

Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to arrive in New York on Friday evening.
