No flight operations from Kolkata Airport on revised lockdown days

Kolkata: Flight operations in Kolkata Airport will remain suspended on the revised dates of state-wide lockdown announced by the West Bengal government on Monday.

The Airport Authority of India tweeted: "With the lockdown announced in West Bengal, flight ops at AAI's @aaikolairport will remain suspended on revised lockdown dates i.e.05th, 08th, 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th & 31st Aug 2020. Passengers travelling via Kolkata are requested to check flight schedule with concerned airlines."

Apart from Wednesday, West Bengal will observe complete lockdown on Aug   8, 20, 21, 27, 28 and 31.

Meanwhile, West Bengal on Monday recorded the highest-ever spike in deaths with 53 people succumbing to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, officials said.

According to reports, with 2,716 fresh infections reported in the past 24 hours, the state's Covid-19 tally has mounted to 78,232, including 21,683 active cases, 1731 deaths and 54,818 discharges.

A bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department stated that in the last 24 hours, 2,088 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 70.07 per cent from 69.83 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 9,56,659 samples till date with a record number of 22,122 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 3,075 persons were kept in government quarantine centres and 32490 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1,711 persons are in 106 government-run safe homes.
