No mention of prices in CAG's Rafale report to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS): A CAG report on the Rafale deal for 36 fighter jets that will be tabled in Parliament tomorrow does not mention prices, NDTV said, citing sources.

Officially called the Capital Acquisitions for Air Force, the report will be submitted a day before the end of the Parliament session, which is the last one before the nation goes to polls.

The report, quoting sources said the auditor was "explicitly told by the Defence Ministry that pricing details can't be shared because of national security". There was a "lot of government pressure".

The Congress is going all guns blazing against the BJP on the Rafale deal and this will, no doubt, provide more fire to the Opposition's campaign.

The CAG report has consequently carried out the audit on percentage terms.

The Congress has already accused the CAG of being "complicit in the irregularities" in the Rafale deal and alleged that "the bungling was happening at the highest level with his direct or indirect complicity and consent".

The Rahul Gandhi-led Congress has been demanding that the pricing details of the fighter jets be made public. The government rejects this demand citing national security concerns.

The Congress says the Narendra Modi government junked a deal for 126 Rafale jets negotiated by the previous UPA government and entered into a more expensive contact for 36 jets to help Anil Ambani's company.
