No quick fixes: Prashant Kishor not hopeful of Congress revival

New Delhi/IBNS: Former political strategist Prashant Kishor, who is credited for turnaround of various parties in the last seven years, is not much hopeful of the Congress' revival despite the grand old party's aggressive campaigns against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Lakhimpur violence in Uttar Pradesh.

In a tweet, Kishor referred to the Congress as "Grand Old Party (GOP)" saying, "People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of GOP led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappoinment. Unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP."

Eight people including four farmers died during a violence which broke out in Tikunia village in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri between the agitators and individuals belonging to the convoy of Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra Sunday.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Ashish in connection with the incident.

No arrest has yet been made in connection with the incident.

Congress top leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra went to Lakhimpur to meet the victims' families.

On her first attempt to reach Lakhimpur, Priyanka was arrested by police Sunday.

With his comment on Congress, Kishor has probably put all speculations of him joining the party put to rest.

Kishor had reportedly met Rahul and Priyanka in recent times.

Despite helping the Trinamool Congress (TMC) defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Kishor had said the 2024 General Elections will be a different ball game.
