No wish to live, Sunanda mailed Shashi Tharoor before death: Delhi police

New Delhi, May 28 (IBNS): While submitting charge sheet against Shashi Tharoor, the Delhi Police on Monday told court that his wife Sunanda Pushkar had e-mailed the Congress leader a week before her death stating that  she had "lost her will to live."

"I have no desire to live... all I pray for is death," Sunanda Pushkar wrote in the email on January 8, nine days before, media reports said.

According to police, Sunanda's death was a result of poisoning.

Some 27 tablets of Alprax were recovered from her room but the police is not certain how many she consumed, the charge sheet claimed.

The charge-sheet quotes a special investigation team as stating that Shashi Tharoor "as a husband ignored Sunanda when she was sliding or slipping into depression and she had Alprax," NDTV reported.

Causing trouble for Tharoor, the Delhi  police earlier this month filed the chargesheet in connection with the mysterious death of his wife, naming him as an abetter.

The chargesheet was submitted before Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh  more than four years after Pushkar was found dead in a five star hospital in Delhi.

The chargesheet under sections 498 A (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code implicated Tharoor for abetment.

Pushkar was found dead in a luxury hotel room on January 17, 2014, days after being embroiled in a Twitter war with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar over the latter’s alleged closeness with Tharoor.

The initial post mortem said her death was due to poisoning. While traces of Alzolam was found in he body and a strip of the sleeping pills found in her room, the actual poison couldn't be confirmed.
