Omar Abdullah bids farewell to Hajis

Srinagar, Aug 27 (IBNS) The first flight that touched the runway of Srinagar airport took off with 270 Haj pilgrims to the holy city of Mecca on Wednesday.

The Hajis were given a farewell at Srinagar International Airport by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

While interacting with hajis, the CM wished them well-being, success and smooth performance of Manasik-i-Hajj. The pilgrims reciprocated the good wishes and showered him with prayers.

As per this year's Hajj schedule the flights will operate directly from Srinagar Airport to Madina Munawara. Today only one flight was scheduled while as from 28th Aug 2014 two flights each carrying 275 pilgrims will take off till mid of September 2014.

A total number of 7007 pilgrims are proceeding for Hajj this year through State Hajj Committee.

Meanwhile, Minister for Hajj and Auqaf, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, and Legislator and Member State Hajj Committee, Dr. Shehnaz Ganie were also present on the occasion.
