Srinagar, Dec 23 (IBNS) Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, whose National Conference lost the polls by emerging third after the PDP and BJP, on Tuesday won one seat but lost another from where he had contested the assembly polls.

While he lost from Sonwar, he won the Beerwah seat.

Omar Abdullah won from  Beerwah by a margin of 910 votes only. His nearest Congress rival Nazir Ahmad Khan got 22807 votes while he grabbed 23717.

After Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Muhammad Ashraf Mir won from Sonwar assembly constituency, Omar Abdullah while accepting the defeat tweeted: "Congratulations to Ashraf Mir for his victory in Sonwar. I wish him and the people all good luck for the next six years. He's now my local MLA."

In the 87-member Assembly, PDP tentatively won (not all declared)  30 seats, followed by BJP at 25. Omar's National Conference led in 15, followed by Congress at 11.

PDP is in a dominant position to form the next government while BJP said its option is open with all parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
