One CRPF personnel martyred, another injured in Chhattisgarh Naxal encounter

Sukma (Chhatisgarh): A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official was martyred on Sunday in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, and a constable sustained injuries, media reports said.

The incident occurred in the morning in the Jagargunda area, as the CRPF's 165th battalion conducted an anti-Naxal operation from its Bedre camp towards Ursangal village.

The encounter ensued between the CRPF team and Naxals, in which Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Reddy was killed and Constable Ramu was injured.

The police arrested four suspects from a neighbouring area and a joint search operation was conducted by teams from the CRPF's COBRA unit and the local police.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid homage to Sub-Inspector (SI) Sudhakar Reddy for his sacrifice in the line of duty.

Tagging Deo in its post, Chhattisgarh CMO wrote on X, "Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has paid his tributes to the sacrifice of Sub Inspector Shri Sudhakar Reddy, who was martyred in an encounter between the165 battalion of the CRPF and Maoists in Jagargunda police station area of ​​the Sukma district."

"Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, he has expressed his condolences to the family members of Shri Reddy. Shri Sai has given instructions to the officers to make arrangements for the proper treatment of the injured constable Shri Ramu," the post added.
