New Delhi, Sept 12 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said one person from her state has died in the crane collapse incident which killed more than 100 person at the Grand Mosque in Mecca on Friday.

"As of now one death and two injuries have been reported from our state at Mecca. The tragic accident has really shocked and saddened me," Banerjee tweeted.
"We have opened a round the clock control room in Haj House and a toll free helpline to help the people. Control room number is 18003457155," she said.

Banerjee said: "Contact is being made with relatives of dead and injured for all help and support."

She said: "My deep condolence to the bereaved families. I also wish speedy recovery of the injured. We are with all of them."

The death toll in the crane collapse incident in the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on Friday touched 107.

The mishap, which left several others injured, occurred when a huge red crane crashed into a part of the Grand Mosque.

Worshipers were  present inside the mosque when the crane collapsed.

Strong winds and heavy rains reportedly caused the collapse of the crane.

The Indian government earlier   confirmed that 2 Indians have been killed while 15 other Indian nationals were injured in the mishap.
