Opposition gets upset at India's befitting reply to terrorists: PM Modi in Uttar Pradesh

Amroha, Apr 5 (IBNS): Taking a dig at the Opposition over the Balakot airstrike in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said some people get upset at India's befitting reply to terrorists.

"Giving reply to terrorists in their own words disturb some people. Some people start crying when India kills terrorists," the Prime Minister said while making a veiled attack on the Opposition.

However, later Modi mentioned Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress, the three anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parties in the northern state, while highlighting his government's firm stand against terrorism.

"It is due to a soft stand of Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party on terrorism, few people get emboldened. They have not only helped the terrorists but also risked people's life and presence," the Prime Minister added.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had conducted an airstrike after Pakistan-based militant organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), carried out a terror attack in Kashmir's Pulwama on Feb 14.

Speaking in the state which had provided 71 seats to BJP in the last General Elections, Modi once again reminded the voters the need for a stable government at the Centre.

"Stable government is important for the country. It is only a stable government which can take big decisions," Modi said six days ahead of the beginning of the Lok Sabha polls.

Though BJP had won 71 seats last time, the saffron unit is facing a tough challenge as arch-rivals SP and BSP stitched an alliance to defeat the BJP.

In an apparent boost to the BJP, Nishad Party on Thursday joined the saffron outfit less than a week after it had left the SP-BSP alliance.

Pravin Nishad, Gorakhpur MP and son of Nishad Party president Sanjay Nishad, has also joined the BJP.

Pravin last year had snatched the Gorakhpur seat in a by-poll from BJP by contesting on SP's ticket.
