Guwahati, June 8 (IBNS): Assam police headquarter has directed all districts police to collect information about the missing youths of the state, who went to South India and gulf nations for working purpose.

Assam police has directed it following an Intelligence Bureau (IB) input stating that some youths of the state are in touch with ISIS and other jihadi organizations.

IB also warned Assam police that, some youths of the state are trying to contact with Jihadi organizations.

“We have directed all districts police, specially the lower and middle Assam districts to collect information about the missing youths. Every year, over thousand youths of the state go to South India and gulf nations for working purpose. But the families of over 100 youths are not able to contact with their sons in past two years. It is a very concerning matter and we have taken it very seriously,” Assam police ADGP (SB) Pallav Bhattacharya said.

The top Assam cops further said that, Assam police has already contacted with the counterpart of Kerala.

Meanwhile, a recent report of IB submitted to the Union Home ministry revealed that, ISIS related searches through internet from Assam has gradually increased and several youths from the north eastern Indian state are trying to contact with the leaders of Jihadi organizations.

A top IB official said that ISIS has been trying to establish its base in India by creating sleeper cells.

The Union Home ministry also expressed worry about uprising jihadi activities in north eastern part and West Bengal.
