Srinagar/UNI: Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a Pak sponsored narco-Terror module by arresting an Over Ground Worker (OGW) and recovering 8 kg of heroin worth Rs 50 crore in border district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.

A police spokesperson said that following specific information, police arrested an OGW, identified as Mujasir Ahmad Lone, a resident of Karen Bala in Kupwara.

“Incriminating material, including 8 kg Heroin (worth 50 crore Market value) was recovered from his possession,” he said.

He said other absconded accused, involved in the crime, have been identified and efforts are being made to track them.

“The module was in close connection with Pakistan-based handlers and was involved in drug trade and assisting financially to active militants of the Valley,” he said.

He said the recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and militants.

“The module was working for militants to strengthen their activities in the valley and were misguiding and motivating the local youth of the valley to join militant ranks,” he said.

He said a case under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been taken up.

“Kupwara Police once again appeals the people of the district to come forward with the information regarding Drug Peddlers/Smugglers so that the curative steps can be taken against them,” he added.
