Party sure of losing Delhi polls creating riots: Arvind Kejriwal

Reacting to the repeated violence in Delhi over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, Kejriwal said, "The riots have been orchestrated keeping in mind the Delhi polls. People who are sure of losing the polls are creating riots."

"The AAP won't be benefited from the riots but the opposition party will be," the Chief Minister added.

When asked specifically about who is creating riots, Kejriwal without taking any political party's name said, "Everyone knows who is doing the riot. There is only one party which has the power to create riots."

Kejriwal addressed the press conference here in the backdrop of the violence took place in Delhi's Seelampur area on Tuesday evening.

The anti-CAA protest in Seelampur turned violent and clashed with the police leaving around 21 injured, police said.

Police had said that there was no lathi-charge or firing at all. However, they had to use tear gas shells to control the violent protesters. 

On Sunday evening, several buses were set on fire following the protest of Jamia Millia University students against the CAA which will grant all non-Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.

The students' role in the violence is yet to be probed.

Following the violence, the Delhi police had entered the Jamia campus and assaulted the students sparking an outrage across the country.
