PM in China: Narendra Modi arrives in Wuhan to meet President Xi Jinping

Beijing, Apr 27 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand welcome in Wuhan, China, upon his arrival on Friday for the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to media reports.

The meeting between the two leaders has been called as an 'informal summit'.

Modi arrived in China on Thursday night. This is the first meeting between the two post the Doklam crisis.

Speaking on his visit to the neighbouring nation, Modi tweeted: "I will be visiting Wuhan, China on 27-28 April 2018 for an Informal Summit with Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China."

He said he will be discussing issues related to bilateral and global importance with the Chinese President.

Modi said: "President Xi and I will exchange views on a range of issues of bilateral and global importance. We will discuss our respective visions and priorities for national development, particularly in the context of current and future international situation."

Modi also said he will review the developmental relations between the two nations.

"We will also review the developments in India-China relations from a strategic and long-term perspective."

The Indian Prime Minister has a packed itinerary, which includes a one-on-one meeting with Xi, a tour of one of the best known museums of China, dinner by a picturesque lake side followed by talks with top officials over the course of his stay, reported TOI.
