New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended the Christmas morning service at the Cathedral Church of the Redemption in the national capital, as the country marked the festival in the final week of the year.

Sharing glimpses from the service on social media platform X, Modi, who held his hands folded during the service, extended Christmas greetings and highlighted the message of compassion and goodwill associated with the occasion.

“May Christmas bring renewed hope, warmth and a shared commitment to kindness. Here are highlights from the Christmas morning service at The Cathedral Church of the Redemption,” the Prime Minister wrote.

The Prime Minister shared additional photographs from the visit, noting that the service reflected “the timeless message of love, peace and compassion,” and expressed hope that the spirit of Christmas would inspire harmony and goodwill across society.

Modi’s visit to the church on Christmas Day is being seen as an outreach to the Christian community, in line with similar gestures made by him in previous years.

In December 2023, the Prime Minister hosted a special Christmas programme for Christian leaders at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.

Last year, he attended a Christmas dinner at the residence of Union Minister George Kurian and also participated in an event organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India.
