PM Modi chairs CCS meet, reviews scenario on Indo-Pak conflict
New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and reviewed the security scenario in the country in the wake of prevailing Indo-Pak situation.
According to official sources, apart from the regular members of CCS - Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Nirmala Sitharaman - the meeting was also attended by NSA Ajit Doval, two intelligence chiefs and senior officials.
Three chiefs of armed forces Gen Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa and Admiral Sunil Lanba and Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale also attended.
The meeting was convened the second time since February 26 - when Indian Air Force had carried out aerial strikes and destroyed terror camps of JeM in Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that the captured pilot will be released on Friday.
"In our desire for peace, I announce that tomorrow (Friday) and as a first step to open negotiations, Pakistan will be releasing the Indian Air Force officer in our custody," Khan in the joint session of Parliament in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, briefing reporters on the situation of the high state of readiness, Maj Gen Surinder Singh Mahal said Pakistan has stepped up ceasefire violations since February 14 Pulwama terror attack.
He said the army was on high alert across the Line of Control and International Border sector.
Echoing similar sentiment, senior Air Force officer Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor told media persons here that Pakistani Air Force aircraft on Wednesday headed towards Indian territory near Jhangar and "breached the air space west of Rajauri in Sundarbani area".
Senior Naval officer Rear Admiral Dalbir Singh Gujral said the Indian Navy will "deter, prevent and defeat any misadventure by Pakistan in the maritime domain".
