PM Modi in Varanasi today, to hold mega roadshow

Varanasi, Apr 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday hold a mega roadshow in his constituency Varanasi a day before filing his nomination papers to contest the Lok Sabha polls.

Modi, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s poster-boy, will reach Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi this afternoon.

The Prime Minister will begin his roadshow from the gates of famous Benaras Hindu University (BHU) and end at Dashashwamedh Ghat.

He will also attend the evening aarti in the ghat.

Modi will be accompanied by top BJP leaders including Amit Shah, who is the president of the saffron outfit.

Several BJP allies like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal and Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray are likely to accompany the saffron leader on Friday.

Will Congress field Priyanka against Modi?

Congress, which is having the least presence in the northern state, might field its eastern UP chief Priyanka Gandhi Vadra against Narendra Modi for the Varanasi battle.

However, the chances are only 50 per cent, reports said.

Reacting to whether she would like to contest or not, Priyanka had earlier stated, "Will fight if my party wants."
