PM Modi insulted Army: Rahul Gandhi slams 'video game' jibe
New Delhi, May 4 (IBNS): Slamming Narendra Modi for taking jibe at Congress' claim of six surgical strikes during United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the Prime Minister has insulted the Army.
"PM is insulting army and armed forces. He considers the Army as his personal property," Gandhi, who heads the Congress party, said.
Surgical strikes claim
In response to Congress' claim of six surgical strikes by the Army during the UPA regime, Modi on Friday said may be the opposition party considers video game as surgical strike.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, former Prime Minister and Congress veteran, Manmohan Singh, said: " Multiple surgical strikes took place during our tenure, too. For us, military operations were meant for strategic deterrence and giving a befitting reply to anti-India forces than to be used for vote garnering exercises."
Who sent Masood Azhar to Pakistan, asks Gandhi
Reacting to United Nations Security Council (UNSC)'s designation of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, Gandhi said: "Strict actions must have been taken against Azhar but which government sent him to Pakistan? Congress didn't do it."
Gandhi also ensured his party, if comes to power, will take stern and strategic steps to combat terrorism.
Rahul Gandhi on his Chowkidar Chor Hai attribution to Supreme Court
Days after apologising to the top court for attributing his words "Chowkidar chor hai (PM is a thief)' to the Supreme Court, Gandhi said he begged pardon "because I commented on Rafale deal while the judicial process is underway".
During a media interaction in Amethi, the Congress president had claimed that the apex court’s order has made it "clear" that 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' (Prime Minister is thief) in its Rafale order.
Challenging this statement, Meenakshi Lekhi filed a plea before the apex court and sought criminal contempt against Gandhi for his alleged derogatory remarks against Modi.
Modi-BJP decimated, says confident Gandhi
As the country is heading towards the last few phases of General Elections, Gandhi posed confident in winning the electoral battle, claiming it is the Congress which has "decimated the BJP".
Speaking about BJP's poll campaign, Gandhi said: "BJP has no strategic campaign. It is a panicky campaign, The Prime Minister is scared. In their campaigns, the BJP started off with national security and halfway they shifted to development."
Regarding Congress' post-poll tie-ups with other parties to form the government, the leader of the largest opposition party told media, "Our main aim is to defeat BJP and Modi. We will work towards it fully now. Will think about alliances after results come out. These seem distractions now."
He also urged the Prime Minister to have a debate with him on jobs and corruption, alleging that the employment issue is absent from Modi's campaign this time.
