New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 4 PM on Tuesday.

"Prime Minister @narendramodi will address the nation at 4 PM tomorrow," the PMO India said in a tweet on Monday evening.

Even though the agenda of the address is not mentioned in the tweet, the same comes amid a steep rise in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

Despite a prolonged period of lockdown, India continues to witness a rise in the pandemic and is fourth worst-hit country globally.

With over 19,000 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's virus tally on Monday neared 5.5 lakh, including 16,475 deaths.

In his last address via Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, PM Modi said India has given a befitting response to those who dared to eye encroaching her territory in Ladakh.

"Our soldiers gave a befitting response to those who dared to eye Mother India's territory. We know how to maintain friendship, but if anyone attempts to confront shall be given adequate response," the PM had said referring to the deadly clash between soldiers of India and China along the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on June 15.

The face-off left 20 Indian soldiers martyred.

"Our brave soldiers made it clear that they will not allow anyone to taint the honour of Mother India," he had noted.
