PM Modi unveils Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's statue in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Oct 31 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 182-meter statue, the tallest in the world, in Narmada district of Gujarat, media reports said.

Sardar Patel, a statesman, was a senior Congress leader and the first Deputy Prime Minister of the country.

The statue has been referred to as the Statue of Unity.

The foundation of the statue was laid in 2013.

Modi was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time.
