PM Modi writes a moving message to Israeli boy who survived 26/11 Mumbai attack

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written an emotional letter for the Israeli boy Moshe Tzvi Holtzberg, whose parents were killed in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai when he was just two-years-old.

In the letter,read out by Indian Ambassador to Israel Sanjeev Singla, the Prime Minister described his story as a "miracle" which remains an inspiration to all.

Modi congratulated  Moshe Tzvi Holtzberg, now 13, survived the 2008 Laskar-e-Taiba attack, which killed hundreds of people on important Mumbai landmarks, including the Taj Mahal Hotel and  Nariman House or Chabad House, where he was staying with his parents.

The terrorists killed six Jews, including Rabbi Gabriel and Rivka Holtzberg, who had come to Mumbai as Chabad emissaries at that time.

Then just two-year-old, Moshe was saved by his nanny, Sandra Samules, who hid with him in a room when the terrorist attacked the house.

“As you make this important transition and cross a significant landmark in the journey of your life, the courage of [nanny] Sandra [Samuel] and prayers of the people of India will continue to bless you for a long, healthy and successful life,” PM Modi wrote in his emotional message.

"Your story continues to inspire everyone. It is one of miracle and hope overcoming tragedy and immeasurable loss,” he added in his message.

"They could not subdue our vibrant diversity. Nor could they dampen our spirit to march forward. Today, India and Israel stand together even more determined against terrorism and hatred,” PM Modi wrote.

In his letter, the Prime Minister also mentioned his meeting with the little boy during his visit to Israel in 2017 and hoped that his wish to return to Mumbai as the director of the Chabad House came true.

 

“I warmly remember meeting you in Jerusalem, along with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu,” Modi wrote. “I hope that your wish to return some day to Chabad House in Mumbai as its director comes true.”

Moshe had met the Prime Minister on July 5, 2017, and expressed his desire to visit Mumbai and live there.
