PM speaks to German Chancellor Angela Merkel over phone
New Delhi, July 17 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a fruitful telephonic conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on his arrival in Frankfurt on Thursday, while returning to Delhi after the BRICS Summit in Brasilia, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.
The Prime Minister complimented the German Chancellor on the splendid victory of the German football team and also conveyed his good wishes to Chancellor Merkel on her 60th birthday which is on Thursday.
The Prime Minister conveyed that India regards Germany as a very important partner and that his government will work closely with the German side to strengthen and deepen the bilateral strategic partnership.
He invited the German Chancellor to visit India in 2015 for the third meeting of the India Germany Consultations.
She accepted his invitation. The two leaders also briefly discussed areas of bilateral cooperation including through skill development, the PMO said.
The German Chancellor has invited India to be a partner country at the Hanover trade fair in 2015. The two leaders agreed to meet at the earliest opportunity.
Chancellor Merkel extended a standing invitation to the Prime Minister for an official bilateral visit to Germany.
