Police arrest four persons, seize Rs 25 lakh from a vehicle

Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS): Police have arrested four persons and seized Rs 25 lakh cash from a vehicle in Guwahati on Saturday.

According to the reports, the arrested persons were coming from Manipur to Rongia in Assam’s Kamrup district to purchase illegal items.

Based on intelligence input, the Guwahati city police had launched operation and intercepted a vehicle at Basistha area in the city.

When the persons travelling in the vehicle were trying to flee from the area, the police team caught them.

During search, the police team had seized Rs 25 lakh cash from the vehicle and arrested the persons.

The arrested persons were identified as Prakash Giri, Tako, Laf Stroi and Moi Yah.

“We have received an information that a group is coming from Manipur in connection with smuggling. We have stopped the vehicle, but they trying to flee from the area. Later we caught them and seized Rs 25 lakh cash from them. We have arrested four persons,” a police officer said.
