Porn video played on ad board at Delhi's Connaught Place; NDMC suspects hacking

New Delhi: A pornographic video was displayed on a digital advertisement board in Connaught Place, one of the busiest markets in New Delhi, media reports said.

The incident occurred late Thursday night when the video appeared on a board in the H-block of the market.

Police were alerted, and the clip, which played for a few seconds, was removed immediately with the help of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) officials, according to the reports.

The person who reported the incident recorded it on his phone, but a large crowd had already gathered at the scene, according to the police.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, and investigations are underway to arrest those responsible, the police added.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said that the incident might be a case of "hacking" the screen using advanced technology.

The civic body explained that it manages two types of panels in the areas under its jurisdiction: one for advertisements and another for interactive touchscreens.

Connaught Place, an iconic and historic commercial hub in the heart of the national capital, attracts thousands of visitors daily, with foot traffic increasing on weekends. It houses stores of top brands and some of the most popular eateries in the city.

However, this isn't the first time such an incident has been reported. A similar glitch occurred last year in Bihar, where a pornographic clip was played on an advertisement display screen at Patna railway station. The Railway Protection Force intervened to halt the footage.
