Power move by India: DRDO successfully conducts Pralay Missile Salvo launch

| @indiablooms | Dec 31, 2025, at 06:13 pm

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully conducted a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launcher off the Odisha coast at around 10:30 am, officials said.

The flight-tests were carried out as part of user evaluation trials. Both missiles precisely followed their intended trajectories and met all mission objectives, as confirmed by tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.

Terminal phase events were validated through telemetry systems installed onboard ships positioned near the designated impact points.

Pralay is an indigenously developed solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic missile equipped with state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems to ensure high accuracy. The missile is capable of carrying multiple types of warheads to engage a wide range of targets.

The missile has been developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with several DRDO laboratories, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), and the Integrated Test Range. Development-cum-production partners Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, along with other Indian industries, also contributed to the programme.

For the trials, system integration was carried out by the two development-cum-production partners.

The tests were witnessed by senior DRDO scientists, representatives from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, as well as industry partners, including the production agencies.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, defence public sector undertakings and industry partners on the successful salvo launch, stating that it has established the reliability of the Pralay missile system.

Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and DRDO Chairman Samir V. Kamat also lauded the teams involved, saying the successful flight-tests indicate the system’s imminent readiness for induction into the armed forces.
