Powerful explosion rocks Assam, 1 killed

Guwahati, Nov 23 (IBNS) : Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam, a powerful explosion rocked upper Assam on Sunday evening which left one person killed and 20 others injured.

According to reports, at least one person was killed and 20 others were injured in a powerful explosion in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The explosion took place at busy Rajgarh area in Dibrugarh town.

“Suspected militants have triggered the explosion,” a top police official said.

“The bomb was planted by suspected militants near a truck,” the official said.

The injured persons were rushed to Assam Medical College Hospital.

Top police and army officials have rushed to the area and launched operation to nab the suspected militants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit to Assam on Nov 29 and he will inaugurate the DGP-IGP conference in Guwahati.
