Kolkata/IBNS: Former President late Pranab Mukherjee's son and ex-Lok Sabha MP Abhijit Mukherjee is likely to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC) here on Monday.

Abhijit, who is presently a Congress leader, is likely to join the TMC at 4 pm.

As per reports, the former Congress MP has recently met TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

Notably, TMC-turned BJP national vice president Mukul Roy and his son Subhrangshu have already gone back to their former party, creating political waves in the state, after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stormed back to power on May 2.

Though the BJP managed to win 77 seats as opposed to TMC's 213, the Left and Congress drew a blank for the first time since Independence.
