President Kovind pays tribute to The Nightingale of India on birth anniversary

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IBNS): President Ram Nath Kovind has paid his tribute to freedom fighter and poet late Sarojini Naidu on her 139th birth anniversary.

Kovind tweeted: "Tributes to Sarojini Naidu — poet, political leader and pioneer of our women’s movement, on her birth anniversary."

Naidu is also known as The Nightingale of India.

Being a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, Naidu took part in the national movement and fought for Swaraj.

Paying tribute to the women's leader, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: "Remembering freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu on her birth anniversary."
