New Delhi, Aug 19 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday condoled the passing away of veteran CPI (M) leader Amitava Nandy.
In a condolence message to his wife, Ila Nandy, the President has said, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of your husband, Shri Amitava Nandy who was a friend and colleague of long years. "

"A veteran CPI (M) leader and a distinguished Parliamentarian, Shri Nandy was always concerned about the welfare of the people in the State of West Bengal. He was known for his varied interests in sports as well as various art and cultural activities. In his passing away, the nation has lost a personality who was always in touch with the grassroots of society," Mukherjee said.

"Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," he said.
