Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacks Congress with "bail-gaadi" remark

New Delhi, July 7 (IBNS): A day when Congress Shashi Tharoor received protection from arrest in a case related his wife's death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at him and the party by calling it a "bail-gaadi".

In an apparent reference to bullock cart, Modi targeted the Congress and said several party leaders are currently out on bail.

Addressing a rally in Jaipur city of Rajasthan, Modi said: "Several leaders who are called stalwarts of the Congress and former ministers are out on bail these days."

Modi said his party aims at building the nation and has no 'tolerance' towards 'corruption'.

A Delhi court has granted a regular bail to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is an accused in the Sunanda Pushkar death case, media reports said.

Tharoor arrived before the court on Saturday.

The next hearing of the case will be on July 26.

Pushkar was Tharoor's wife, who died under mysterious circumstances at a hotel room in New Delhi in 2014.

On May 14, Delhi Police filed the chargesheet in connection with the death of Pushkar, naming Tharoor as an abetter.

Charges under sections 498A and 306 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) were filed against the leader.

On Thursday, Tharoor was granted an anticipatory bail by Delhi's Patiala House Court on a surety of Rs 1 lakh.

Tharoor now can't leave the country without the permission of the court.
