Qatar Emir to visit India

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS): At the invitation of President Pranab Mukherjee, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar is paying a state visit to India from Mar 24 to Mar 25, officials said on Friday.

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials and captains of industry.

"This is the first visit of HH the Emir of Qatar to India. There have been regular high-level bilateral visits, including the then Emir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani to India in 1999, 2005 and 2012. Former Prime Minister, Hon’ble Dr Manmohan Singh visited Qatar in November 2008," the MEA said in a statement.

During the forthcoming visit, the Emir of Qatar will call on President Mukherjee and meet Vice-President of India Hamid Ansari.

He will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
