Patna, July 6 (IBNS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been granted bail in the defamation case filed against him by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, media reports said.

The defamation case was filed against Rahul for allegedly saying all thieves had Modi in their surnames.

"I will appear in person at the Civil Court in Patna today at 2 PM, in yet another case filed against me by my political opponents in the RSS/ BJP to harass & intimidate me. Satyameva Jayate" Rahul, the former Congress president, had earlier tweeted.

Sushil belongs to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Rahul on Thursday pleaded not guilty in the defamation case filed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) against him for allegedly linking journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh's murder to the organisation's ideology.

The defamation suit was filed by a RSS worker.
