Imphal/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, slated to cover about 6,200 Kms in 66 days, is all set to start from Manipur's Khongjom on Sunday.

AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the rally from Khongjom War Memorial in Thoubal district.

The Thoubal district administration has ordered that the number of participants in the yatra be limited to 3000.

Kharge, Gandhi, and other leaders will arrive at the Imphal airport during the day and proceed directly to the venue.

The Manipur government had earlier denied permission to the request to start the Yatra from Hapta Kangjeibung, prompting the Congress to change the venue of the launch.

Before the start of the Yatra, the participants will pay tributes to the War Memorial at Khongjom. The war memorial is in memory of 1891 Anglo-Manipur War heroes.

The rally will conclude at Imphal and proceed towards Kangpokpi and Senapati districts on Monday before moving to Nagaland.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who arrived on Saturday, said Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY) is an ideological rally and not an electoral one.

Ramesh said the Yatra will cover about 6,200 Kms in 66 days with the aim of safeguarding democracy, the Constitution, and its Preamble and delivering social justice.

He said Manipur continues to be in complete chaos and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet visited the state.

The Yatra will be taken out for 11 days in five North Eastern States.

MPCC president K Meghachandra said that the Yatra will be supported by the bloc of 10 political parties .

Security has been tightened in the route and all preparations completed to make the rally successful.
