Rajasthan: Tent collapses at religious event in Barmer, 14 die

Jaipur, June 23 (IBNS): At least 14 people have been killed as a tent collapsed in Rajasthan's Barmer area on Sunday, reports said.

The mishap, which happened after heavy storm and rainfall, left 50 others hurt.

Several people had gathered at the Rani Bhatiyani temple in Barmer for a religious event when the mishap occurred.

The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the tragedy.

"Collapse of a ‘Pandaal’ in Rajasthan’s Barmer is unfortunate. My thoughts are with the bereaved families and I wish the injured a quick recovery: PM @narendramodi," PMO India tweeted.
